Nest Life at Eagle Country

Season 2 nest life saw the return of Nicholas and Victoria as the resident bald eagles. Thankfully, there were no hurricanes or other major weather events that interrupted normal nest behavior.

As the season began, nest building went as expected. Nicholas proved to be a very determined builder, and he built and built until Victoria laid two eggs.

Interestingly, Nicholas seemed to enjoy incubating so much that Victoria occasionally had to nudge him out of the nest!

Hickory & Mossy: Growth and Fledging

After successful incubation, Hickory and Mossy hatched and life in the nest continued to unfold. They both fed well and grew fast, and before long were “wingercizing” and getting ready to take flight.

It was exciting to see them both successfully fledge. In general, this season had no major ups or downs in terms of events. It was just the beautiful progression of nest life and many wonderful moments and memories.

Season 2 was a steady, joyful progression of nest life with healthy growth and successful fledging. Although “quiet,” it was very rewarding and full of moments worth remembering.
