Season 8 • The Eagle Country Field Journal

Season 8 has unfolded in unexpected ways, with Skye returning briefly and Blaze not returning this year. In their absence, Gus and Willow, Great Horned Owls, have taken up residence in the nest. This season also welcomed the addition of a new River Cam, offering a broader view of life along the water.

Families and classrooms following along this season may enjoy Young Observers, a companion page with simple ideas to explore while watching together.

Current Nest Status

A pair of Great Horned Owls, Gus (m) & Willow (f), took over the nest in December 2025.

On 1.11.26, Willow laid an egg.

Active Cams

Season 8 began with the Nest Cam, Bayhead Cam, Cow Cam and a much anticipated new River Cam.

In February 2026, an updated River Cam was installed to better capture the diverse and expansive river habitat of Eagle Country.

General Location

Eagle Country is located in Southwest Florida on a private cattle ranch. Eagle Country and included habitat includes cattle pastures, ponds, wetlands/swamp and the river.

Season Start Date

Eagle Country began livestreaming Season 8 on November 1, 2025.
